Innovative Fire & Security was appointed to design, build, and fit out the prestigious new headquarters for BBC Wales in the heart of Cardiff—a landmark £120 million development spanning 150,000 sq ft.
The striking building, designed by worldrenowned architectural firm Foster + Partners, was completed in 2019 and houses broadcast studios, office space, retail units, and state-of-the-art broadcasting technology. Since completion, we have maintained a strong ongoing relationship with the BBC, continuing to support and service multiple sites, including the systems we originally installed.
The installations consist of:
- Addressable Fire Alarm System with over 2000 devices on a network of 9 panels.
- Bespoke design including Aspirating Systems, Flame Detectors and Beam Detectors.
- Complex Cause and Effect programming –designed with the BBC specific needs incorporating False Alarm Management to ensure Broadcast continuity.
- PAVA Voice Evacuation System – designed to meet the acoustic expectations of the BBC in the office and open atrium spaces.
- Emergency Voice Communication Systems – to operate in conjunction with the Fire Alarm and PAVA.
